Lee is a Tutor/Mentor for ...

Make it Mentoring is a specialist support service for children, young people and families living with autism, learning difficulties, complex needs; and sensory/physical impairment. MiM is a growing organisation based in Yate, South Glos. and has also developed strong links in Bristol and the surrounding areas.

As part of their comprehensive range of services - MiM are currently organizing term time and holiday studio sessions with Lee. These are specifically for young people who have been identified as having special educational needs and who can benefit from One-To-One tuition in 'Creative Computer Skills'.

The garden studio at Ashley Cottage in Bristol BS7, offers a tranquil environment for young Mentees (students) to visit and to get hands-on computer skills whilst exploring their creative interests. This approach of offering One-To-One contact with an experienced tutor also encourages participants to work on their general life skills such as communication and time keeping.

Studio sessions are predominantly based around learning to use Adobe Photoshop software as it is an incredibly versatile application and one which suits visual learners because it is fun to explore. This is used in combination with Microsoft software, other Apps, the Internet, Windows & Mac computers plus a Printer / Scanner and various Photographic equipment.

The emphasis is on learning and vocational aims, especially for those who feel unable to access mainstream education. The MiM senior staff team are working in collaboration with other professionals including Lee to break down some of the barriers to learning and offer new learning experiences to their Mentees (students). Here are a just a few creative projects they can choose from to get started:

♦ Create a Poster or Leaflet
♦ Create a Web Banner
♦ Create a CD Cover
♦ Create a Calendar or Chart
♦ Create a Greetings Card
♦ Create an Animation
♦ Create a Screen Presentation
♦ A Photoshoot or Photowalk

NOTE: To arrange a Taster studio session with Lee (on behalf of a young person who would like to access MiM services), please contact Reehana or Charlie:
